Today is Holy Cross Day. This festival, which originated in the fourth century, celebrates the triumph of the cross. Paul reminds us that Christ crucified is the power and the wisdom of God. As Moses put a serpent on a pole to be a source of healing for the Israelites, we lift high the cross as the sign of our health and salvation. Each time we make the sign of the cross we remember our baptism into the death and resurrection of Christ. As a gift to you from Joseph's Square Men's Ministry at Zion, a variety of handmade crosses are available to you. Larger crosses, 1 per family please and necklace crosses 1 per person.

Today 3rd grade youth and parents meet for a class about using their new Bibles. Next week the class meets and at the 10:45 worship service they will receive their new Bibles with a service of dedication.

Circle 2 has changed their meeting date to this Wednesday, September 17th at Karen Swanson's.

A picture directory helps the Zion church family get to know one another. Your opportunity is soon here. Each participating family receives a FREE 8 x 10 professionally taken family photo AND a FREE picture directory. Photo dates are Tuesday, October 21st through Saturday, October 25th. Sign up today in the Fellowship Hall OR online during the week OR call the church office for assistance in finding a time.

September is our Moola for Milk Campaign. This is sponsored by the Salvation Army and provides milk coupons for all food pantries in St. Croix and Pierce Counties. It provides thousands of gallons of milk to families in need. We will be collecting donations (in our milk jug) on the two Sundays of Sept. 14th and 28th.

Aluminum cans for Bible Campers: If you have aluminum cans please place them in the can bin at the South end of the park by the church parking lot.  Your can donations will help cover costs for children going to Bible Camp.  We are encouraging younger children to try camp and this can help them pay the way.
